.60 bore with 6-1/2" barrels. Offered is a very unusual matching pair of large bore flintlock side by side pistols. This set of Highwayman pistols were the type used by hold-up men during the latter part of the 18th century. There are no visible proof or maker marks that we can see. Barrels feature light scroll engraving. Sideplates and hammer are engraved. Features an engraved trigger guard with decorative finial. Other features include a decorative butt with tooled insert cap. All metal is basically a gun metal grey. Walnut stocks. This rare set of pistols is in fine overall condition. One pistol has a 1-1/4" crack at forestock, while the other has a repair forward of right front lock plate, a small chip at left breach, and a piece of stock missing on left side forward of lock plate. Both pistols are in working condition and features double set triggers. Extremely scarce to find a matched set of large bore flintlock double barrel pistols from this era in original condition.
