Ketland & Company Contract U.S. Flintlock Pistol.These are referred to as contract pistols, some parts manufactured in London, and sent to the American colonies after the War of 1812, usually procured by state militias. It is a flintlock and stamped Ketland & Company in center and stamped United States at rear. Has British crown proofs. Stock is American. Single thimble with vintage wooden rod with brass tip. Metal is a dark brown patina, stock is very good. A number of these type of weapons were ordered by the city of Philadelphia. The hammer spring needs attention, stock has some darkening and some minor chips at barrel channel.
