Barrel length 26", .38-55 caliber. Cody factory letter states this rifle was shipped on October 9, 1893 with 26" octagon barrel, .38/55 cal, with pistol grip stock. No other information listed. The rifle, in addition to the factory research, features: beautiful scroll and punch dot engraving with 2 deer on left side. The breech is likewise engraved as is the fore-end cap. Features a full octagon barrel with full magazine, with deluxe pistol grip checkered walnut stock that exhibits the highest grade of checkering with beautiful piano finish and dark grain, wood is proud to metal. Barrel retains approx 90% original factory blue, with sharp legends, razor sharp edges. The magazine is starting to soften. Rear sight has 90% original fire blue. Walnut stocks are near mint and proud to metal. The frame, hammer, lever and butt plate retain 98% case colors. Screws heads are perfect. Strong rifle bore, perfect action. While the deluxe checkering and engraving is not mentioned in research, these exact patterns are found in the Marlin Brophy book, and are masterfully executed, and appear to be factory work.
