5" barrel in .45 ACP caliber. Original World War II Switch & Signal semi-automatic pistol. Left side of slide is stamped "U.S. & S. Co. Swissvale, Pa. USA". Right side of frame is stamped "United State Property M 1911 A1 U.S. Army.". Manufactured in 1943. Standard features include blued barrel with "P" stamped on left lug and "H.S." stamped on right lug (High Standard), a checkered hammer, checkered slide stop, checkered safety, checkered trigger, and a checkered lanyard loop arched mainspring housing. Sports the dull blue military finish. Left side of frame is stamped "R.C.D." in circle (Robert C. Downie 1942 - 1945). Slide retains approximately 50% original dull blue finish, thinning to gun metal grey. Grip strap and grip safety are a spotted grey-brown patina. Balance of frame is a soft blue-grey-brown patina with some age spotting. Brown plastic grips do not have reinforcing ring. Comes with one blued magazine. Nice clean Switch & Signal pistol is one of the more desirable of the World War II Colt clones.
