7.92x57mm, barrel length 29.13". The GEW 98 was the standard infantry rifle used by Germany during the First World War. Its most distinctive feature is the so called Roller Coaster rear battle sight. This rifle was made in 1918 at the Oberndorf factory and is dated and stamped on receiver bridge. Top of the barrel has the "S" stamp. Frame and barrel have matching numbers. Bolt is stamped "M". Safety is stamped "B". Floor plate is stamped "03". Metal is a mix of blue grey patina. Original stock has a crack at retaining bolt on both sides that needs repair. It comes with a bayonet with a metal sheath.
