Barrel length 24". Caliber .30-06. This is a typical World War I Springfield. Barrel is stamped SA 5-18. Left side of the stock has the inspector's stamp in rectangle J.H.W. John H. Wowarth is listed as an inspector. Has a block p in circle under wrist. Has standard 1918 stock with wide finger grroves, 2 bolts, with a type 3 hand guard. Features standard front sight with type 3 rear sights with dished knobs with no grooves. Smooth buttplate has been finely stippled in a style that is often referred to as a United States Marine Corp attribution. Wood stock is in excellent condition with a couple of minor ususal dings. All metal surfaces are smooth military blue brown patina, common WWI. Features all milled parts with a straight bolt. The trigger guard and floor plate have approx. 80% of the bright blue finish. Has an original 1918 dated sling with brass frogs. Rifle has a strong bore with a ME reading of 1. Overall an extremely fine standard all original WWI Springfield with WWI attributions.
