5-1/2" barrel in .455 Eley caliber. This Colt New Service revolver features blued finish, six shot, double action, with Colt black gutta percha grips and lanyard ring. Back strap is stamped "N.W.M.P." for North West Mounted Police along with "531". This gun is listed as part of a shipment of guns shipped in September 1904 to Louis Bros. of Montreal. This is one of the 700 guns in the original order. Overall metal retains approximately 80% original factory blue finish, starting to dull and mix with patina with some age freckling. This is a very early first model with all the early Colt New Service features. Grips are very good, but there is a small chip at bottom left panel. Action is perfect. Strong bore with some light frosting. Shipping information is found is the book on Canadian issue weapons.
