Henry Boker imported blades from his brother Heinrich in Germany and assembled the swords in the United States. It is estimated that he sold 45,000 Model 1860 light cavalry swords to the Union during the Civil War. Making it the scarcest of all US Model 1860 swords. The hilt is stamped "Henry Boker Solingen". The sword consists of a 34-1/2" blade, not etched. Blade and tip are very good with usual age spotting and several nicks. The handle is leather wrapped with brass braid which is intact but some flaking. The bottom of the brass hand guard is stamped "15". It comes in its original metal scabbard with two rings. It has a few minor dents. Overall, a very nice and scarce cavalry sword.
