Caliber .30-06, Barrel length 24”. This rifle was manufactured at Springfield from July 1942 - September 1942. Barrel is dated 5-42 “SA”. Bolt drawing number is D28287-2SA. Heat lot number is RE1. Rear sight is a Type 2 with lock bar. Has a No. 3 uncut op-rod with short fork follower. No. 5 trigger housing with narrow gas cylinder and early slot head port cap. Serif “P” in circle on wrist. Left side of stock is stamped “S.A. E. McF.” with Ordnance wheel. Has a checkered butt plate with trap. All metal parts have the parkerized green military finish. Metal retains approximately 90% original finish. Walnut stocks are excellent. Has a unit painted 49 at toe of stock. Comes with a period canvas sling. ME reading 1.5 with a shiny bore. Fine early war M1 Garand.
