Caliber .69, Barrel length 44-1/2". Lock is dated 1809, stamped "U.S. Springfield" with eagle. Barrel has inspector stamp on top. Has eagle head "V.P." on left side of barrel. All iron hardware. Three bands. Original ramrod. Missing front sling swivel. Buttplate is stamped 1808. Stock has numerous inspector marks. Butt and forearm have a "U.B." in two places, extremely deep, and there are four what look to be names stamped in as well. This rifle is in the kind of condition collectors love with deep, dark patina, never cleaned, and usual pitting and pan. Wood has some hairline chips and small cracks on forend. Rare survivor.
