Caliber .65 smooth bore, Barrel length 8". Lock plate is stamped "Newton", the octagon to round barrel has two touch marks, military motif of cannons and flags on the left side plate which is engraved "Kent", military motif German nickel pommel with helmet and cannons, the grip has a silver wire inlay with trumpet and initial "W", silver plated engraved trigger guard and two thimbles, left side plate is silver plated, lock and barrel are a smooth gun metal patina, beautiful incised walnut stock. Very good bore and action. The book "Gun Makers of London" lists John Newton 1778-1784, and Joshua Newton 1819. Beautiful early English flintlock with ornate military motifs
