Caliber .22 rimfire, Barrel length 23". The variety of boy's bolt action single shot 22 rifles prior to WWII is staggering. In this case, it is the box that demands attention. It is an original period two piece box with proper end label, Stevens decorative paper tape and a colorful 4-1/2" x 9" label that depicts three boy scouts at the target range. The label is excellent, box is very good with some staining and storage marks. The rifle is stamped Springfield Arms, which was a division of Stevens. Rifle retains approximately 70% factory blue with mixed patina and spotting. Wood stocks are very good with dings and original surface loss. Action is fine. Very nice bore. This rifle is definitely a shooter and not collector grade, but the rare picture box deserves a mint condition rifle to replace this example.
