April 9th & 10th Premier Firearms Sale (MFIRE)
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/9/2016
Caliber is .69, barrel length is 29-3/4”. This U.S. flintlock musket was converted from flintlock to percussion and shortened during its period of use. All metal is brown speckled patina with light salt and pepper overall. The lock is stamped Springfield 1815, stock has several cracks at wrist with repairs. This is typical conversion of an early musket done during the time of the Civil War. It was popular with the Confederacy and a lot of these old muskets remained in Southern possession. They were converted and shortened and used throughout the Civil War. It has a pleasing look.
