Barrel length 26”. Manufactured in 1910. Amongst the most desirable of all Savage 1899 lever actions are those early guns that feature the high polish blued finish with the perch belly stock chambered for the Winchester calibers. Offered is just such a gun. This is a scarce takedown rifle with 26” full round barrel, original sporting front and rear sights, high polished blued frame with brass cartridge counter. Case colored lever, varnished walnut stock, blued finish with rifle butt plate This rifle remains in wonderful all original condition. The barrel obtains approximately 95% original blued finish with just a few minor storage marks, some freckling and a hint of thinness in spots. The frame retains approximately 85% of the original high polish blued finish, that is thinning on the tang, mixed with patina at bridge, light high edge wear, and a few minor storage marks. The lever retains approximately 80% brilliant case colors on sides. The screw heads are perfect and obtain a majority of the high blue finish. The walnut stocks are excellent, original finish, proud to metal, retaining a majority of the original finish with the usual minor bumps. Only under magnification you can see a 1/2” closed hairline at tang that appears to be darkened grain to the naked eye. The butt plate colors have patterned out. This rifle has a near mint bore and a perfect action. Very nice all original high finish early Savage in one of the most desirable of all calibers.
