Caliber .45-70 government, Barrel length 32-5/8”. Has the 1873 rear sight. Left side of barrel has “VP” verified proof with eagle head. The block is stamped US Model 1873”. The lock is stamped with the “US Springfield” and Eagle. Walnut stock has the “SWP 1882” cartouche in box (Samuel Porter). Stock is very good with no cracks but does exhibit numerous bumps and bruises from use. Barrel is a smooth mix of blue and brown patina. Block colors have silvered out and darkened. Legends are sharp. Strong clean bore with a perfect action. Rifle comes with an original bayonet, the metal sheath and a leather frog with the U.S. metal hanger.
