Caliber .50-70, Barrel length 21-3/4". This firearm began life as a standard 1868 U.S. Trapdoor Springfield rifle. It was altered to resemble the rare 1870 SRC. This was done by cutting the stock under the barrel band and retro fitting new forend tip, the barrel was cut and the saddle ring and bar were added. Block is stamped 1870, stock has a visible but not visible cartouche, left side of wrist has a 6" crack. Visible rifling, fine action.
