Caliber .38 super, Barrel length is 5”. This .38 super was manufactured in 1968. The pistol retains most of the standard features of a pre -series 70 fourth model 38 super. It was sent to the famous Giles custom shop on 4/20/1968. This pistol has the original Giles ten shot 50 yard test target dated with serial number. The original instruction sheet, original sales record and two Giles signed test targets. Custom features include; extended rib stamped “Giles 45 shot Odessa, Florida”, has the custom adjustable rear sight, custom hammer, main spring housing and grip strap are stippled. The magazine is stamped “Colt .38 special” which would indicate that this gun was converted from a 38 super to .38 wad- gun. Pistol retains 99% of the original factory blue finish. Mint bore and action. Comes in the original period box that has been cut out for sight extension. Includes an extra magazine. Bottom of box is numbered to gun with proper label. Giles is world famous for turning out some of the finest shooting Colt 1911’s ever produced. Their list of awards and accolades bares no explanation to any avid target shooter. A superb example of one of the finest target 1911’s ever assembled. The original price tag in1968 put this pistol at $1,200, a princely sum for that time.
