22-1/2" barrel in .64 bore-flintlock. Offered is a finely crafted 18th century Italian flintlock carbine. The barrel is octagon for 8”, turned round, and is finely inlayed in silver with the maker’s name on top flat. Barrel has a simple brass blade front sight. There are two thimbles to retain rod that have a horn tip and forend. The extra fancy brass trigger guard has a relief cut single trigger. The lock plate and pan are brass. Stock is finely carved around lock and left side. The butt stock was not manufactured with a buttplate, but it has a finely engraved brass heel plate. There is a front swivel with a rear stud. Hammer and barrel are a smooth grey patina. Stock is excellent. Beautiful little early flintlock carbine. Cominazo was the most revered barrel maker in Italy and through out Europe. This is one of the finest condition flintlock Carbines of its type at a time when a mans social status was reflected in his choice of firearms. This Carbine would have been in the possession of the ruling class.
