This is a very early, circa 1500 late Gothic period broad sword. It has the copper Touch Mark on blade indicative of the Gothic period. This sword was made for a high ranking officer, elector of Saxony. Features the ornate inner guard of silver inlay. Original 1600s Saxon broad sword with silver wash on iron hilt. Perfect grip. Blade is near mint. This museum quality Broad sword is normally seen only in major European Museums such as the one in Dresden. The blade measures 44-1/4" overall length is 53".
