9" barrel, .70 bore flintlock. Relatively unadorned large bore flintlock service type pistol. The barrel has import proofs at breech. Lock is not stamped which would indicate lock was mfg.'ed in Penn. Sports a simple one piece curly maple stock with no brass decorations of any kind aside from the engraved brass trigger guard. The barrel, lock and hammer are rich dark patina and the stock is excellent with no crack or chips with the exception of small repair at left muzzle. Brass is a dark rich patina. Early large bore flintlock pistol was used in the colonies prior to and after the Revolutionary War. This was a business gun that was solidly built and precisely fit and finished that would have served its purpose well. These early American made pistols were often built using barrels imported from Europe while the rest of the pistol and all of its parts were mfg.'ed in Penn. for use along the colonial frontier.
