April 9th & 10th Premier Firearms Sale (MFIRE)
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/9/2016
Caliber .44 magnum, Barrel length is 6-1/2”. This revolver dates to the first year production in 1956. This is a variation two. It sports a full nickel finish with real ivory two piece grips with Ruger medallions. According to all literature Ruger never offered the nickel finish in the early Blackhawk so this was either done outside the factory is as a very special order as evidenced of the ivory grips. That said, all factory legends are sharp and there is no nickel within the factory stamps. The nickel has started to cloud and there is a quarter inch area of freckling on left side of barrel. Grips are excellent, action is perfect, bore is near mint. One of the most handsome and special versions of the flattop Ruger we have seen. The cylinder shows light signs of burn so this revolver has not been fired to any extent after finish was applied. It is a full nickel in that the rear sight and hammer are also nickel plated.
