Caliber .45 long Colt, Barrel length is 4-5/8”. This revolver was manufactured by Colt in 1898. It is obvious that the previous owner desired a very special gun and spared no expense to get as close to the original George Patton Colt as possible. A master engraver was hired to replicate a near identical pattern of engraving which covers nearly the entire surface of the gun. The revolver was then silver plated and fitted with a one piece set of real ivory grips with G.S.P on right side and an eagle with shield carved on left. Bore and action are mint. Gun is in 100% as new condition. Legends are sharp as new, fit and finish flawless, two lined barrel address, first generation under lined hammer, all matching numbers and lanyard loop at butt. The original Patton gun was engraved by Qunio A. Helfricht. Patton’s gun was serial number 322088 and is pictured on page 288 in the Colt Engraving Book. The master engraving on the offered example is nearly identical if not a mirror image. About the only difference in this revolver verses the original Patton revolver is the shape of the front site and serial number. An absolutely breath taking antique master engraved Colt.
