Caliber .45 long Colt, Barrel length is 7-1/2”. This revolver was manufactured in 1887. It is a blue and cased colored, six shot single action. While we cannot find the signature of an engraver, it is obvious this was done by a master of his craft. The barrel exhibits nearly full coverage deep chiseled scroll engraving with punch dot background, Helfricht style decorations on top and zigzag borders. Top strap has fish scale engraving with zigzag borders and similar scroll and punch dot. The back strap is engraved as are most of the surfaces of the cylinder. Screws are fire blued, exquisite case colors on fire and hammer, perfect legends. Frame has the early three line patent. Barrel has the gothic style lettering and the early under lined hammer fitted with a lovely pair of one piece ivory grips. Bore is near mint. Action is perfect. Simply stunning antique black powder master engraved, as new, Colt single action army.
