Caliber .455, Barrel length 6-1/2”. Manufactured 1915-1917. This revolver was manufactured 1915-1917 on the square butt N-frame with five screws, so called hand ejector model. These were exported for the English market for use in the first World War and has the usual British proof marks on barrel, frame and cylinder. It was converted sometime later to accept the standard .45 cartridge as the .455 cartridge has been stamped over on left side of barrel. Standard features: six shot, double action, fixed sights, blued finish with silver medallion checkered prewar walnut grips (rough and replaced). This revolver has case colored hammer and trigger and a lanyard ring. These revolvers usually survived in less than collectable condition and this is one of the better examples as it retains approximately 80% of the original S&W blued finish. It would be quite handsome with a better set of grips. Bore is near mint and the action is perfect.
