Caliber 8mm, Barrel length 4-1/2”. 180,000 copies were produced by the firm Leopold Gasser Waffenfabrik in Vienna from 1898 to 1912. The M1898 was planned to be replaced in the Austro-Hungarian cavalry by the Roth–Steyr M1907, and in the infantry by the Steyr M1912, prior to the outbreak of the First World War. However production of newer pistols was not sufficient and the weapon continued in service, especially as issued to NCOs, officers and as a secondary weapon to machine gunners. In some armies, it was used through the Second World War, including Italy and Yugoslavia. This revolver features all matching numbers. Left side of Frame “Patent Rast-Gasser Wien”. Unit marked Lw15 on left side of frame. Eight shot, double action, blued finish, checkered walnut grips and lanyard ring. Action is perfect, strong bore. This lovely revolver remains in excellent condition with 85% factory blue starting to soften. Excellent original grips.
