Caliber is 8mm, Barrel length 25”. Manufactured at the Chatellerault Arsenal. These were designed for use by Colonial troops in Indo - China. Has all matching numbers on barrel, bolt, trigger guard and right side of stock. They were manufactured without a hand guard with a one piece walnut stock and blued metal furniture. Has a stacking hook on front barrel band, with a large circular saddle ring on the rear band and standard sling swivel in butt. Smooth metal butt plate and a military adjustable rear sight. Metal is a mix of blue and gun metal gray patina with sharp legends. Comes with an original bayonet with metal sheath and original cleaning rod on side with brass tip. No import marks. Wood is in excellent condition with the usual few nicks. Fine bore and action. The Navy blue full length heavy wood trench coat of World War I era has all the original brass buttons, original back belt and is double breasted. It has seen some heavy use with repairs to the collar. Lining is all stamped with military production dates. You can see images of the French Infantry wearing these jackets in the trenches during the First World War.
