Caliber .30-40 KRAG, Barrel length 30''. This is a standard Military U.S. issue rifle in 1896 - 1897. This particular rifle has the upgraded 1898 rear site. The one piece walnut replacement stock is stamped "J.S.A. 1903". Metal is a blue brown patina with some wiped finish. Front barrel band is brown patina, rear barrel band is stamped "U". Retained 40% of original blue, trigger guard retains 60% of original blue. Stock has usual dings and 2" hairline stress grain crack on left side. Fine action. Strong rifle bore with black powder abrasion.
CORRECTION: Stock is duffle cut and repaired under rear band and bolt channel enlarged. Cartouche 1903- Stock 1898
