Caliber is 11mm, Barrel length is 32 - 1/2”. These rifles were adopted by the French military in 1866 and manufactured until 1870. This rifle was manufactured in 1867, and was referred to as the “Needle Gun”. It is a single shot, bolt action with military adjustable rear sight. Two barrel bands, bayonet attachment on right side, and walnut stocks. Bolt is numbered to gun. Left side of stock also has matching number. Walnut stock is in good to excellent condition with the usual dings. Has inspectors stamp on right side and numerous cartouche stamps on wood and metal. Metal is basically a gun metal gray. Fine action with a strong, clean rifle bore. Far above average example.
