Caliber .30, Barrel length 24". Offered is a beautiful all original model 1903-05 that was converted in 1906 to the current .30-06 cartridge by shortening the barrel .20 as well as the wood. Otherwise this rifle has all of the original 05 parts to include updated 2,700 yard sight with stop, dished knobs with knurled edges and grooves, cut off have no serifs. Has the 1905 bolt with the single small hole, straight handle, and blued. Barrel is stamped "S.A. 05" with Ordnance bomb. Has all proper milled parts, original flat top hand guard without lips and internal cutout. Wide finger groove stock with no added stock bolts, no visible cartouche on left side. There is a script "P" in circle at wrist. No "H" stamped on bayonet front band. Proper smooth 1905 butt plate with large trap. Trap still retains original wooden spare part container (very rare accessory), correct early trigger (smooth), forward front sight pin, and two band rear sight base with stock cut. Rifle is in excellent condition. Wood is excellent to near mint with the only flaw being a small 1/4" chip on left at heel. All metal parts are a smooth blue finish mixing with soft brown patina. ME reading of 2 with a clean bore and perfect action. An extremely fine, very early all original as arsenal altered 1903-05 rifle.
