Edward Barnes & Sons Sheffield fixed blade with an overall length of 11-1/4", blade length is 6-1/4". Blade is a flat ground clip point . Front blade face is acid etched with patriotic mottos and a double eagle clutching a ribbon with the words "EDWARD BARNES & SONS AMERICAN BOWIE". Handle is a scroll decorated cutlers handle fitted with an oval guard. Patriotic motto reads "AMERICANS ASK FOR NOTHING BU WHAT IS RIGHT AND SUBMIT TO NOTHING THAT IS WRONG". Correct 360° seamless sheath with nickel silver throat and tip. Sheath still retains gold colored scroll decoration. Circa 1833-1888.
