Caliber .44-.40 W.C.F., Barrel length 20”. Manufactured in 1899. Offered is an original example of the iconic Winchester Model 1873 lever action saddle ring carbine in the desirable .44 cal. It is standard issue in all respects with full round barrel, full magazine, post front sight, two leaf express rear sight, blued finish, walnut stocks, twin barrel bands, saddle ring and stud with carbine butt plate. All metal surfaces are a dark patina with no original finish remaining. Stocks are very good, a bit shy at tang and toe, and there is some minor grain separation and usual abrasions. Right side of for-end has a small chip. Fine action, strong rifling with minor black powder abrasion. Very good example of a popular 73 Carbine.
