This cat does not appear in any of the standard Steiff reference books and was probably produced for the upscale US toy retailer F.A.O. Schwarz. Cat is 7 cm tall and 17 cm long, including her outstretched tail. She is lying, head jointed, and made from tan mohair that has darkened over time. She has black airbrushed stripes on her head, back, and tail. She is hard-stuffed with excelsior. Her face is detailed with green and black slit pupil eyes, a pink hand embroidered nose and mouth, and clear monofilament whiskers. The backs of her ears are velvet. This cat was most likely made in the early 1960's. This is only the second time this cataloger has seen this extremely rare design. Condition: As noted. Cat has her raised script Steiff button, traces of her yellow ear tag, and her chest tag. Mohair loses only to the underside that do not detract from her presentation. In original, good condition.
