12 Bore, Barrel length 30”. 2-3/4” chamber, full choke, 14-1/2” LOP. During WWII, Browning contracted with Remington to produce the Browning Auto- 5 because of the German occupation of Belgium, contract was dated July 16, 1940 and produced until 1947 when F.N. production resumed. These are referred to as the American Brownings. The serial numbers are located on the left side of the receivers as opposed to the bottom and have a different engraving pattern, matte finish on top of the receiver and of course are not marked “Made in Belgium”. This example has the full matted rib with single bead front, barrel is stamped “Browning Arms Co, St Louis”, barrel has approximately 98% original finish, frame has some wear at base and age spotting on trigger guard. Fine bore and action. Checkered walnut round knob stock in excellent condition with no cracks. Browning logo butt plate. Excellent checkered walnut for-end with no cracks but some dings on right side, some flat diamonds in the checkering. High condition, scarce war years, American made, Browning A-5.
