These two cub friends have been together for over 60 years. The 40 cm Steiff bear is five ways jointed and made from white mohair, which has mellowed with age. He is stuffed with excelsior, which has separated in a few areas. He is 5-ways jointed, and has traditional and early proportions including long arms, long narrow feet, and a pronounced back hump. Ted has his original mohair pads with four claws on each paw. His face is detailed with brown and black glass pupil eyes and a brown hand-embroidered nose and mouth. He has a very small hole on the right side of his muzzle and one on his arm. He retains his long trailing "F" Steiff button and dates from the 1920's. The smaller Steiff bear 10 cm, five ways jointed, and made from caramel mohair. He is 5-ways jointed and has a chubby body, angular face, and long, padless feet. His face is detailed with small black eyes and a brown hand-embroidered nose. This bear has no remaining Steiff ID but dates from the very early 1950's. Condition: Ranging from good to very good. The larger Steiff bear retains about 80% of his mohair and has wear and loss commensurate with age. The two make a charming presentation together. Provenance: From a Vermont estate.
