Possibly an executioner's sword. The large, probably early 18th Century sword with a 34-3/4" straight blade. Spatula end. Single partial median fuller inscribed: "Ditum Scelis Non Manet In uLtum". Borders are floral motif with a gallows at the top. Partial fleur-de-lis cartouche. Reverse inscribed: "Stilie Regni Funda Mentum Elt" with a wheel and rack above. Straight crossguard with plain quillions. Scalloped ferrule. Spherical steel pommel. Ribbed leather-covered grip. Blade and hilt showing wear and fine pitting. Grip possibly re-wrapped.
