Barrel length 35-1/2” Caliber. .36 percussion. Elizabeth Pancost built this fine PA rifle during the early to mid-19 century. This rifle exhibits one of the finest incited curly maple stocks we have come across. Instead of an iron rib this rib is part of the stock and has decorative circles with borderline incisions beautiful dark patina with lovely stripped pattern, has an engraved back lock action made by Goulcher, engraved hammer, has an intricate brass patch box with simple brass butt plate, toe plate and trigger guard, has set trigger, 3 brass retaining brass thimbles, brass nose cap, barrel has 4 retaining pins, has an engraved German nickel palm plate. Typical PA left side cheek piece with nickel silver plaque, all iron furniture is a brown patina, and top of barrel is maker stamped twice sports a rear drift sporting sight, dove tail rear sight. The only flaws are two holes at tang and barrel breach for long range sight brass trap door slightly bent, very handsome PA rifle.
