The small sword with straight 29-5/8" triangular blade of conventional form, the lower portion with gold-washed panels and maker-marked: Ve AK/& F. Gold-finished hilt, the clamshell guard with relief wreath, eagle and arms panoply. Knuckle-bow with laurel leaf motif. Domed oval pommel with leafy detail. Checkered black composition grip with oval relief portrait of Lafayette (?). Blade showing wear and pitting. Hilt with light wear and minor looseness, small chip to grip.
