5" barrel in caliber .45 ACP. Manufactured in 1943 using Colt patent, the left side of slide is stamped "Ithaca Gun Co. Inc." Top of slide has the proof "P", has the proper World War II sight with flat machined top, rounded corners with square notch, slide retains approximately 85% of the war time phosphate finish with some minor age freckling. The left side of frame has the "F.J.A." (Frank J. Atwood) inspectors stamp. Atwood was who inspected Ithaca from June 1942 - March 1946. Left side of frame has proof "P" under magazine catch, and inside of the frame is stamped with Ordnance bomb. Right side of frame is stamped "United States Property M 1911 A1 U.S. Army". Number "5" is stamped on right trigger bow. Other features include the spurless checkered hammer, a checkered safety and slide stop, has the checkered main spring housing with lanyard loop. Frame retains approximately the same amount of original finish as slide with light takedown wear. Has the blued barrel, left lug has proof "P", right lug is stamped "H.S." (High Standard). Has the brown composite Keyes grips with K in star numbered "8" and "13" with the outside reinforcing ring. Has a proper magazine and the barrel has a strong clean bore. Perfect action, grips near mint, nice example of a mid - war Ithaca.
