5” barrel in caliber .45 ACP. Very desirable 1941 production Colt U.S. Model 1911 A1 with the blued finish. Left side of slide has the patent markings with pony in center. Top of slide is stamped with a “P”. Right side of slide is blank, which is correct. The left side of frame has the “R.S.” inspectors mark in box for Robert Sears, 1937 - 1941. Has a proof “P” under magazine release, right side of frame is stamped, “United States Property M1911 A1 US Army”. Right trigger bow stamped “69”, left bow has the verified proof and is stamped “P”. It has the spurless, type six checkered hammer that was introduced in August of 1942. Has the checkered slide stop, safety, checkered arched main spring housing with lanyard. Top inside of frame has, “G” inspectors stamp. Overall gun retains about 60% of original blue, thinning and mixed with light patina. Blued barrel is stamped “Colt .45 Auto” on left side, left lug has a proof “P”, and also has a strong clean bore. Has brown composite Keyes style grips. One panel simply stamped “8”. No stars. Has a period magazine.
