33” barrel in .58 caliber. Referred to as the Zouave rifle manufactured 1862-1865. These were contract rifles used during the Civil War. Seven groove rifling, features brass mountings, blue barrel, case harden lock, brass patch box, trigger guard, butt plate, and barrel bands with brass nose cap. Tulip ram rod, sling swivels, two leaf folding rear sight, butt plate stamped “U.S.” Lock is stamped “1863” with the U.S. Eagle and with “Remington Ilion, NY” Rifle appears to be in unfired condition. Barrel has 98% original blue with razor sharp stamps and inspector marks. Dated 1863. Lock and hammer retain 70% original case colors. Brass is untouched. Bore is near mint. Stock is excellent to near mint with two perfect cartouches. Still has fire blue on frame screws. Comes with an original bayonet and sheath. As about as nice as they come.
