20" barrel in .50 caliber. Manufactured in 1865 and 1866 only. This carbine features the stabler cut off. Barrel is stamped "M 1865", top of framed is stamped "Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. Boston Pat'd March 1860", left side of stock has two strong cartouche stamps "ESA" and "DW". Has military style adjustable rear sight. This carbine remains in excellent, all original condition. Barrel length is a pleasing mix between brown and blue patina. The frame is a brown-gray patina with strong hidden case colors. Lever has all proper military inspector stamps. Walnut stocks are excellent with the few usual dings. Has the original saddle bar and ring. Top of stock is lot letter stamped "EAW". Fine working order and has a strong, clean rifle bore. This was a very popular weapon in the early Indian Wars and far above average example.
