U.S. Model 1852. Slightly curved blade, with narrow and wide fullers, etched with scrolls, eagle, arms panoplies, U.S. and other patriotic motifs. Right ricasso marked: Horstmann/& Sons/Philadelphia. Brass guard of standard form. Knuckle-bow. Oval pommel with wire-wrapped fish skin grip. Contained in partial scabbard with fish skin covering and two brass ring mounts. Top mount inscribed: Presented to/Capt. Wm. Wein/by David Beveridge,/of Pottsville, Pa. Blade and hilt showing light wear. Attached tag reading: “…!29th Pa. Volunteers. Reverse reading: “Wounded in assault on Marye’s Heights at Fredericksburg”.
