25-1/2" barrel in caliber 7.7mm Japanese. Manufactured at the Toriimatsu factory, Nagoya Arsenal. Often referred to as the "Last Ditch" rifles due to the crude late-war production. Features inverted V front sight without guards, riveted front band, no provision for cleaning rod, fixed rear sight, plum-shaped handle, no knurling on safety with indicator notch, wood buttplate (but cutout from metal plate still present), sling swivel on left side of stock, two piece stock with short handguard, and matching number on bolt. Metal is a mix of blue-brown patina. Bridge has the full royal mum. Original stock is in very good to excellent condition. Has the crude solid front band with bayonet lug. Stock has cutouts for the tangs. Very nice all original example of a late-war Type 99.
