22" barrel in .43 Spanish caliber. These carbines were manufactured for export to numerous countries during the 19th century. This example does not bear any U.S. markings, nor is the tang stamped so this was obviously made for the foreign market. All metal is a dark brown patina. Wood is very good with a light 3/4" hairline crack on the right side. Visible rifling with black powder corrosion. Standard military rear sight and sling swivels. Fine working condition.
