3-1/2" barrel in .31 percussion caliber. Referred to as the Model 1855 Side Hammer Pocket Model (Root), this series was manufactured 1860 to 1873. This revolver was manufactured in the first year of production, 1860. It is a five shot, single action, spur trigger, octagon barrel, with high polish square butt walnut grips. Features a case colored hammer and loading lever, balance is blue. Has a Hartford address with an 1856 patent date on barrel and cylinder. Features a small brass bead sight. Gun retains approximately 70% original factory blue with the balance simply aging. Strong bore and fine action. Comes in a period box (not Colt). Accessories include an iron Colt two cavity mold, a Colt eagle copper flask, and a London percussion cap tin. Very nice early set.
