22" barrel in .52 rimfire caliber. This is a true Civil War Spencer carbine that has not been altered. Falls directly in the serial block range 1863 to 1865. Has the six groove rifling. Other features include walnut stock, metal butt plate, single barrel band, saddle ring and bar. Sports a post front sight with the original rear sight having been replaced with a dove tail brass thick sight. Metal has various military inspector marks. Carbine has no original finish. Basically a brown patina. Wood shows heavy use with nicks and bumps. Left side of forearm has 3" piece missing. Action fine. Strong rifle bore. It is obvious this carbine saw much use during the Civil War.
