40” barrel in .58 caliber percussion. Standard military Civil War musket manufactured at Springfield armory. Lock is dated 1863 and stamped US Springfield with eagle. The bolt is stamped with eagle. Has the single leaf folding rear sight, three barrel bands. Left side of barrel has the VP eagle head proof .The rifle was finished in the white and now is a smooth brown patina. Original sling swivel, period rod, walnut stock is excellent, no cracks. Has a strong “E.S.A.” cartouche in oval on left side and a strong clean bore. Perfect action. Comes with an original US stamped bayonet that is brown patina. This is a very high condition and this model is all original and un-messed with, has never been cleaned and has all the original patina. These are often referred to as the Gettysburg models by collectors due to the year of the famous turning point battle in Pennsylvania. Very clean un-touched example.
