Barrel length is 32-5/8", caliber is .45-70. This rifle has the readily apparent internal rod bayonet system with the covered sight hood. Has the 1884 rear sight. Block is stamped US model 1884, both barrel bands are stamped U, 60-80% original blue finish. Barrel is basically blue mixing with patina and some light age freckling. Left side of barrel has VP proof with eagle. There are a couple of mars on barrel, the rear sight has altered/removed. No visible colors on block. Side plate is stamped US Springfield with eagle. Walnut stock is excellent, has a crisp SWP 1891 cartouche on left side with the cursive P in oval under wrist. Trigger guard is a mix of blue and brown patina. Has a period original leather sling with single brass frog. Buttplate stamped US, strong clean bore and perfect action.
