Having a 31-1/2" slightly curved blade with two narrow fullers at tip and one wide fuller passed 8-1/2" false edge (styled after the 1852 U.S. Staff and Field Officer’s Sword). Left side etched with floral scrolls, arms panoply and legend: Republique Francaise-Septtembre 1870. Right side etched with scrolls and panoply with legend: Liberte Egalite Fraternite. Brass guard, pierced with floral motifs. Single knuckle-bow. Ovoid pommel. Ribbed fish skin grip, lacking wire-wrap. Contained in steel scabbard with two ring mounts Blade with wear and nicks to edge. Hilt with age patina commensurate with age. Losses to fish skin on grip and wire-wrap missing. Scabbard with wear, minor dents and patina.
