Comprised of: 1) French Second Empire Breastplate. This stunning, heavy breastplate has a brass plackart and rivets, but is dominated by the Napoleonic eagle surrounded by rays. The interior is engraved "Manuf Ral de Klingenthal 1897". It is also stamped "237", which was subsequently stamped out with punch stamps. Underneath is a clear stamp of "175". 2-4) Three lighter iron back plates in various states of oxidation. One is remarkable because it appears that it took a direct hit from an artillery round.
